I love the white on white or the background on a canvas picture with letters over time.  Easy change up for something you don't like. Just paint over the whole thing. You can always touch the letters with paint to make them stand out. Don't totally cover them with paint so that you get it on back ground. Just kind of antique them to stand out. Tons of ideas
